Here is some information about the general History of Winkfield Row.

There is even a song about the village!

The first thing you should probably do is contact the Berkshire Record Office: http://www.berkshirerecordoffice.org.uk/

Old maps are often fairly helpful. There are Ordnance Survey 6" maps online for the whole of the country dated around the 1890's (Winkfield Row occurs on a sheet dated 1881). Go here: http://www.old-maps.co.uk/ and enter Winkfield Row in the search field. You can see it enlarged and you can also print it out or order a printed copy (better quality).

I think it will be important for you to act fairly quickly if you want to see the deeds of the house (which will be the most reliable source of information about when it was built and when it was modified). The Land Registry is now only keeping summary records of properties and all the old paper work is slowly being shredded unless the owners want to keep it!

I wish you good luck! It's quite a treasure hunt finding out the history of buildings. Certainly the first place to start would be the Berkshire Record Office and Bracknell Library and if you can visit in person you have a much better chance of success!

(By the way, the postcode is RG42 6NB - you may have known that but mistyped it).
Reply:try the council..or even ask jeeves
