are they bumble bees ? I thought bumble bees were black and yellow.....

What are the big black flying bees called? I get them in the spring, on my wisteria plant.They eat the nectar.
These are Carpenter Bees. They do come in different colors...the one I see where I live are all black...but some are all yellow or black and yellow as well. They are not striped like a bumble bee, but have solid colors. Read more below:
