How can I get my 8 year old Wisteria to flower?

As long as your wisteria is happy it is not going to bloom. It needs to be stressed into thinking its very survival is at stake. Stop feeding it, and cut the roots further than 30" away from the stem.

How can I get my 8 year old Wisteria to flower?
wisteria is noted for being slow to flower. It needs a sunny spot and regular food while it is maturing. Try not pruning it this year and see what happens. Keep a regular eye on it as it starts to sprout next growing season that way you will learn the difference between folliage buds and flower buds. Be patient 8 years is not uncommon. Good luck.
Reply:What type of bed is it in? Sometimes wisteria will become almost root bound. the solution may be nothing more than aerating carefully at the base of the plant and adding a mild plant food.
Reply:Was this plant grown from seed? If so, it might take a little while, although 8 years is a long time to wait. Make sure you're NOT giving it too much nitrogen, and don't prune it in the winter, especially after all the leaves have fallen off.
Reply:Assume it is in full sun, that you feed it regularly, and keep it damp.

Should bloom if you do all the above, but only blooms in the spring.
Reply:prune only in the summer after the flowers have died back these plants flower on last years,! growth

if you prune in winter you cut of the flower buds

july august is the time after the flowers have gone .

my inlaws said that she used to cut back her wisteria in winter and it has had one flower in six years
Reply:You have to prune all the straggling shoots off to encourage the flowers AND be patient....
Reply:According to Neil Sperry's "1001 Most Asked Texas Gardening Questions":

-If you have your wisteria in the shade it will not bloom very well.

-If you prune it in the winter, you're going to be removing all or most of it's buds. Prune immediately after blooming season.

-If you have it in a turf area, you may be using too much high-nitrogen fertilizer near it.

- If you keep it really moist, it may be staying vegetative all fall, when it should be setting its flower buds for the following spring.

Wisteria have been known to bloom in the fall,as well as spring ,under certain conditions.
