How do you get Wisteria to bloom? Have had ours for 7 years and no flowers? We live in southwestern Ontario.?

You have probably already found out that this fine is quite invasive. It Will take approx 8-10 years before it will flower. In the mean time keep it trimmed, watch for vagabond sprouts and pull them out to transplant, or discard. Keep it fertilized and healthy. Once it starts to bloom, you will relish in the sweet wonderful smell and the grape like clusters look gorgeous from a distance.

Trumpet vine and honeysuckle is the same way, it will grow prolifically for several years before it will flower. Patience is a virtue

8 years and you will your first flower.
Reply:It can take 10-15 years for first blooms to appear on Wisteria.
Reply:Pruning twice a year will encourage blooms. depending on the weather I prune in Feb-March and again towards the end of the year but don't get too carried away you don't need to prune every branch and when you do try to cut no further back than 3-5 buds which is easier to see in March and once they start flowering you can prune once a year that's if the plant has not become to over grown for your garden. Ps if its Chinese (Chinensis) Wisteria it will be easier to get to flower than a Japanese variety.
